The one she submitted last week (of her mom in the red coat and black tights) showed her mom’s style but this picture is all about the glamor. Because we all know that our glamorous moms had lives before they had us, right? You do know that, right?
From my friend Joel in San Francisco: “This picture was taken before Maw was even married to Dad. She actually once appeared as a model in Life Magazine. Granted she was about half an inch high, and she was modeling a boat in a very small ad. She was on top of the front of the speed boat. And the brand name of the boat was “Trojan.” So she tells people that she modeled Trojans in Life Magazine.”

“Ok so this is my Mom. She turns 70 this year. Last year, a boutique she frequents asked her to model some looks for New Years Eve events. This was featured in the Jamaica Gleaner one of the national newspapers in Jamaica. This cracks me up because she spends most of her time in her garden but she is also a phenomenal hostess for tea parties, luncheons, flower shows, fashion shows, and charity balls. She disappears into her closet and seriously returns as this amazing woman. Growing up we were always amazed. As I got older, of course, I ended up helping with the shoes and accessories.” -John-Andrew (Astoria)
